Students Choice

What is Fantasy football? Is a question that many fans still do not have the answer to. The answer to that is quite easy actually. Fantasy football is a game played by thousands of fans. It is actually quite entertaining and fun, I myself have a team. Fantasy football starts by creating a league with people ( friends, co-workers, family, etc.) Fantasy football is pretty much just broken down to three stages: the draft, points, and the playoffs.

The start of a new NFL season marks the start of a new Fantasy football season. Once the league is created the most important part of the game comes in; the draft. The draft is when players get to pick their NFL players to be on their fantasy team. They can pick whatever player they want no matter on what team. The draft can be done either online or manually. It is exactly like the NFL draft. Each person has a limited time to pick the player they want on their team. The clock ticks and the rounds go by as each team fills up their roster.

Your first two-maybe three rounds of the draft you want to pick the elite players in the game. Players like: Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, are usually the first to go. Each league is different on point scoring. Touchdowns are usually worth six and each league can decide how many points each stat will get you. Yards,  receptions, completions, and touchdowns are mostly what players get points for. How many depends on what your league decided upon. So the trick is to pick more elusive backs. Each team picks up a defense as well. They get points based on sacks and turnovers. Beginners must abstain from picking only players from their favorite team because sometimes they are not the best or there is a better play available.

Getting into the playoffs is what it is all about. Once you have made the playoffs you have as good of shot as anybody to win the league title. The number of teams that advance to the playoffs also depends on the league your in. By the time you have reached the players you must have a good roster. Players start to perform better once the playoffs are on their way. The actual playoffs of the NFL are not the playoffs in fantasy. The last regular season game for teams in the NFL is the Fantasy super bowl game.

Research Bloq

The NFL is one of the world’s most vicious sports right with rugby.  To play football you need to be, physically and mentally healthy, disciplined and, motivated. Yet it has all these rules to protect their players from injury. What is this football or basketball? The NFL needs to take a look at their rulebook and take out some of their foolish rules. The first one being protecting the quarterback. What is this? Second one, taking kickoff away from the game? Unnecessary roughness. Wow players being fined for doing their jobs. The NFL should not make rules concerning player’s health. They play the game knowing what possible outcomes they might come upon.
No defensive player who has an unrestricted path to the quarterback may hit him flagrantly in the area of the knee(s) or below when approaching in any direction.” Defensive players job is to make plays. It is in there blood to be hostile. Sacking the quarterback is one of the highest valued plays a defender can make is sacking the quarterback. But the NFL decides to make a rule so that they there are only certain ways you can bring him down. Quarterbacks are already take a large number of less hits than any other player on the offense do they really need the extra protection?
Football is the only team sport where you have more than just a “Defense” and an “Offense”. Football also has special teams that is a third of the game. Kickers use to have to kickoff from the thirty-yard line. This year the NFL changed that to the thirty-five yard line. Why? To protect players from serious injury. Who cares these players are getting paid to play the game and taking kickoff away from the game is not only making the NFL sound like a joke but also ruining some carriers.  Players like Devin Hester who are dangerous return threats don’t come in to play on kick off return anymore. It’s making it harder for some kids to come out of college in the draft. The NFL has even said they want to remove kickoff from the game? What are they high? If something is not broken you do not fix it because otherwise you break it. Removing Kickoff from the game would mean taking a third of the game out. Why would they do this?
When asked to describe football in one word, words like “Aggressive, fierce, hard-hitting,” come up.  Football is not considered a contact sport football is a collision sport. If players are suppose to hit each other then why are they getting find when they do so? Football is an all contact. In high school kids get the choice to choose from soccer and football. The boys who chose football chose it because love the contact and collision. Hitting a defensive receiver, how can somebody on offense be defensive?  They need to just let the players play the game. If the NFL just keeps on making these outrageous rules it’s going to become a two-handed touch league in recent years.
The NFL needs to focus on more important issues. They are trying to change the game. The game does not need to be changed. They need to take this offseason and really look at their rulebook. There are a lot of rules that are questionable to fans and analyses experts. With no clear evidence to why it’s a rule some rules need to be removed. We do not want football to become an extinct sport, let the boys play.

Interprut Data

After seeing the results of my poll I'm not going to lie I was pretty astonished by the results. The reason why is not many students in our class watch football at all. It made me wonder how is America's sport not being watched at least three hours (one full game) a week? According to Huff Post Media, the 2011 Super Bowl was the most watched television broadcasting. "The Nielsen Co. said Monday that an estimated 111 million people watched the Green Bay Packers outlast the Pittsburgh Steelers in professional football's ultimate game. That tops the 106.5 million who watched the 2010 game between New Orleans and Indianapolis.” I took a look at the students in our class and I soon had a possible answer. About half the students in our class were American and the other half Latino. The NFL only exists in The United States, so it makes it harder for people who don't see it as often to become attracted to the sport. There is a Canadian Football League but everyone says it is a joke. According to the NFL, there are, "24 Hispanic-American players on NFL rosters this season. A team can have 53 players on their roster but only dress 45. Things the NFL is doing to enrich other cultures with this magnificent sport is, they are broadcasting some games in Spanish. They are also celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Another thing was that half the people that were American were girls. There are no women currently playing in the NFL. Some have in college though. There are no Women currently or ever have been in the NFL so girls don't watch it because they have an idol playing or because they are playing the sport.
